I cleaned today which means one thing....

(working on a new journal with the girls in the class)

I'm a little upset.
I have a history.  I always clean when I'm upset.
In fact if you come to visit and the house is messy, then it's an indication that I'm in a fantastic mood!
Yesterday I went to visit with a store owner, she was keen to see my journal, and we were to discuss the possibility of me running a class. Yay!
After leaving me for 1 and 1/2 hours she told me she didn't want to run journal classes as no one would want to take them.
I actually think it's a New Zealand thing.
I put my gracious face on and thanked her for the feed back.

Looks like I'll have to be content with the internet love I get from my online students!
But now I'm interested, what do you do when you're upset??

Carole :(

Oh poo-poo to that! Why didn't she give them a try at least?? What's the harm? Surely she could run one to see what the interest is like? Sorry, but all the classes we get here are pretty straightforward and not that interesting and I'd jump at a chance to take one like yours in real life (says she who hasn't signed up for an internet version yet!)
Good on you for putting your gracious face on, I would have struggled.

Well, she is the one missing out on one of your great classes. Less for her and more for your online students. When I am upset, I eat, walk around in circles and can't seem to sit still. Keep up the good work Carole, always love to see what you are doing.

Not good enough Carole, dare I guess who it was you went to visit. It has a certain ring about it!! Why can't people stretch their imaginations and try new things, you don't know unless you try do you? Their loss!

Well...ya know first off she shouldn't have left you waiting all that time when she must have already known what her answer was going to be. Just makes you scratch your head at times as to how rude and inflexible people can be.

Just shake that dust off your shoes and keep on walking...I've not taken any of your workshops but know from seeing your work how wonderful everything is....Honestly, online seems to be where so much love is these days...so hang on to that and have fun!

Hugs to you,
Stephanie ♥

That's just one shop dear Carole. You need to try more and out of town too. I'd love to see them in real life.

mmm. i bet people would jump at it with half a chance....why dont you poo hoo her and run one from home or hire a venue, i bet it would be a success.

It must have been so hard to put on a gracious face but the best thing to do....like you said on the journal blog maybe not the right type of shop so maybe an art shop where at least they can buy the wc paper and maybe dyes....and for her not to even give it a try makes her shallow....sending healing thought....im dreadful when things like this happen i just keep going over it in my head and drive myself nuts....but when i wake the next day everything seems calm again x

Absolutely their loss!!!! Better to save your creativity for someone who would appreciate it!
Oh and eat chocolate!!!

Ah hun - that's dreadful and I think she's completely missed the point of journals if I'm honest - I tend to rant a lot - through a teenage strop (I'm really good at them now I'm nearing 39) and to be honest if none of that works I clean the house like a demon - so I completely get where you are at!

Hugs!

First of all, pants to that woman....she'd better not decide to run the class herself!
I eat when I'm upset, anything and everything! Guess by my weight, I must be a very unhappy person LOL!
But, at least you have a nice clean house!
Carry on Jounalling !

Isn't she silly?!

Try not to take it personally, the penny will drop with her eventually and then she will realize her mistake.

I rip off my finger nails and pick all the skin round the cuticles til they bleed. Very painful and totally ridiculous, but I can't help it:0(

First of all....can I get you to visit me when you are upset...please, my studio would love for you to show up and take out all your vengence on it. When I am upset I seem to not get anything worthwhile accomplished. Look at it this way,,,atleast you DO do something with your frustration....and put it to good use so to speak. Maybe this shop keeper just wanted to "see" this journal for her own doings? And don´t forget it is just one person so don´t let her have you doing so much vacuming and dusting,,,relax and go sit in the sun with darling Buddy....

Sorry, for your bad experience. I have sometimes also. But first stay thinking on all people who do like you and your family. That is the most important thing in life. Feel good and forget the bad feelings.

It is amazing how rude some people can be. I agree with Jenxo, give a class from your home. Your journals are great. I clean too, vigorously!

I'm so sorry. I would've cried and gone and bought dessert. Most likely some rich ice cream covered in hot fudge.

Funny thing, I clean also...I can get so much done when I am ticked off!!!

You had every right to be...does this person know what a great thing she passed up??? I would try going to my local Library and seeing about classes there. Ours is always trying to find artists to bring in more people to the Library...and you are making Journals, so it is a Book...People would have to carry their own machines to the class....but most who sew have a portable.....
Good Luck and keep your chin up...you are awesome and you have so much to offer...glad we can see your beautiful creations because you are generous enough to share!!!

oh boo hoo to her! I am working on it Carole, and we have some interest down here,
I clean too!! spent the day in the garden yesterday, very good for the soul but not much else gets done, not near enough hours in the day!!

I think she's daft, of course people would come along for a journal course, she's let go a prime opportunity. Try not to let it get you down, or get cleaning. All we get offered are ordinary embroidery courses, or water colour painting, or lace making - not bad in themselves but they've been offered by the local college for donkeys years. Something fresh and exciting would be just the ticket, how short sighted of her. Keep the faith, try another venue, I'm sure there would be a classroom full out there x

Well, if it makes you feel any better, WE all think your classes are great so obviously she has NO taste whatsoever and doesn't know a good thing when she sees it. That's not the sort of person you want to be around anyway.

Carole - just phewy phewy on her. She does not know greatness was standing in front of her. Don't let that stuff upset you - easier said then done. I cleaned my patio today and am pooped right now. BUT your lovely spoon necklace came in the mail! It is more stunning in person than the photo depicted. Thank you so much. Don't waste your time on people like that woman. As I said phewy phewy on her! Hugs.

Oh rats that's not good news. We need a plan to make you world famous in Palmy. Let's get together and see what we can figure out.

I am like you Carole-- I clean. But I also consume anything fried and salty in the kitchen (crisps!), alternated with anything chocolate. Cleaning is definitely the healthier outlet!

Your internet fans love you. Life is not all bad. And now you have a clean house too. :)

It's too bad that I don't clean my house when I'm mad.......it might be clean more often than not. You've just reminded me that I wanted to take one of your classes though.....so I just signed up:) As for not being interested.......This lady is clearly not in the loop. Since when is something so beautiful, not of interest??? That's just crazy....And it's good to have crazy's around just to remind us that 'we' are not. When I'm mad....I shop for underwear...No one can piss me off when I've got matching bra and panties:)

She made a huge mistake.
Keep moving forward.
Sweet smiles and hugs to you.

Yep I agree, how rude of her to leave you waiting so long! Perhaps you should put an add in the paper for people who may be interested in creative textile arts find your own students, book a little venue and take the class yourself. There must be people in your area who would be interested.
And yup I clean, when upset or annoyed or I iron. I think we do these things because they dont need much concentration.

What a pity that particular shop owner is so close-minded. Of course, she may know that her own clientele is narrow, too. (shrug)

Just like getting a rejection upon entering a show ... shrug it off and go on doing what you do best! You know that what she has to say is not so - you have plenty of happy students who say otherwise!!
