Today it's raining, very cold and grey and I've just finished doing my tax return. It wasn't good news.
(photo from my very first month of posting)
And then as I was lighting the fire I was thinking about my blog and how long I've been blogging. It seems that Facebook has had quite an impact on the way and frequency of blogging lately.
Out of curiosity I decided to go back in time and see what my blog posts were like when I first started blogging and just how much they've changed compared to my posts now.
I found lots of enthusiasm and lots of lovely artwork from friends all around the globe.
I also thought I wrote a lot more than I do today. I wonder if that's a reflection on the fact I'm always running out of time?
I also think that my focus has changed a lot during the four years I've had a blog presence, when I first starting blogging I used to participate in loads of swaps, but now I've found I enjoy teaching, I love meeting people and as I watch my students finishing their amazing journals I realise how exciting it is to share the fun of helping students make a special piece of art.
I think my art journey has become more focused. I think there are going to be some exciting projects ahead.
But maybe sometimes we all need to step backwards so that we can move forwards?
How have you as a blogger and artist changed from when you first starting blogging?
Hope you've all had a fantastic week,
Carole :)

It is interesting looking back isn't it? I have noticed that things/ projects/ Quilts/ art quilts / patterns I may not have previously liked I might like now. I think it is part of the Journey. My experience level has moved too I guess. Some things haven't changed. I still like bright colours . I still Like the unusual. I like designing my own work / projects.( I rarely use other's patterns ) I will always be an artist first a quilter second....but they go hand in hand!
I never thought to do this (look back). What a good idea! I did a lot more swapping too and less now. When I first started blogging I promoted my ebay auction listings, but now I have an etsy shop (because so many other bloggers have etsy shops and I followed their lead!)
I think we all evolve and change over time.

Great post! I've been blogging since 2006'ish. I do feel that sharing with other quilters and bloggers has helped me grow and find "my voice" (liberated, wonky, eclectic, and happy to be that way). I was drawn into quilting by the colors ~ and I'm still deeply in love with them. The thing that continues to surprise me is how I named my blog with "so many possibilities" -- it is SO VERY TRUE!
Hi Carole,
Is it to late for me to join the journal class?
my email addy is ray.beth@actrix.co.nz
I love your blog & it has been such a long time since I last read it. Hugs Rayna
I love that you share your work and I love that you are so focussed...wish I could be more like that! It is definitely cool to look back and see how you change over time - a great visual diary.
What a stunning photo Carole...
my first blog posts were clumsy...I certainly knew nothing about "how" to technically create a blog...just knew I wanted to share the joy of creating and have a kind of visual 'journal' of what goes on in my life...it grew and blossomed beyond my wildest dreams...
getting to meet so many like minded creative souls from all around the globe continues to amaze and delight me...
so it's Facebook to blame for hearing less from you ;)...I see!
There is lots to be learned from looking back :)

sorry about your tax newsx. I often look about at my blogs and l often find l am changing not always for the best. In the begining l tried to do everything!!but now realised that l need to take time, do the challenges l really want to do and take my time. I am still learning and still enjoy my blogging but l do not get upset oif l miss a day! I love it when an artist leaves a comment and then we continue to chat and help each other. I don't use facebook as much as l did but iot can be useful sometimes. xlynda
