Now that brings back my childhood.We used to shell the peas while they were still on the stalks --my dad could not figure out why the shells were empty.

And, though where I live it's the dead of winter, I do look forward to the peas eaten straight from the shell. When I used to grow them myself, not too many made it back into the kitchen!
