well there's not too much mess, but there's definitely madness!

Well my friends, I am now going to lull you all into a nice calm sense of peace as you look as these 2 pics. They are of my finished 1st block. I am really excited to have it finished, and although it kind of looks 'random' I checked out the sample finished quilt hanging on the wall in the store last time I visited, it looked very much the same. I was keeping my fingers crossed that the blue water soluble marker that I traced the designs with would actually disappear with a bit of water! It did, phew!
The pattern also states that you use 3 strands of DMC cotton, but I think it looks a little chunky, what do you think?

OK, STEEL YOURSELF! ..........
this was my house guest last night!!!

This CHARMING creature is a huhu beetle, it is native to New Zealand. Well darling Wednesday bought this in through the window. Every night she brings something, well last night it was SCREAM material! I hate them, they make my skin crawl, no kiddling!
So I said to DH that it was that thing or me, the house just isn't big enough for the two of us! LOL! I mean can you imagine getting comfy on the sofa with a good magazine and a nice hot cuppa, and WHAM! this thing flies into your hair, or lands on your arm! OH NO, I think not! It was removed by my knight in shining armour, MY HERO! (if you'd like to read more about the huhu beetle, google it.)

Of course this morning this awaited us at the front door. Buddy, not to be out done, had to bring us something even bigger! Ohhhhh, how sad I can hear you say...... this is one rabbit who is not going to eat Mrs McGregor's lettuces!!! (you might just notice that the cats like to sleep on top of their lovely sheepskin house instead of in it!)

Oh well, another night, another suprise!
Carole ;)

I love the embroidery, nice job. If you think that the 3 strands of floss looks a bit chunky perhaps try it with 2 strands and see how that compares.

Now for the house guests, I agree the beetle is downright creepy and has got to go. Poor bunny I guess he was just not quick enough. We use to have a cat that would bring us various birds on a regular basis. One of my friends her cat caught 3 bats and 1 rat and brought them home to her. Cats have strange tastes in gifts.

Your quilt is coming along beautifully. I have this pattern and the fabrics sitting in waiting to get started. I plan on using 2 strands as I do find 3 s little to much myself. However, you lovely work has inspired me to make a start.
My little darling brings me Stirlings and Rats. Aren't we lucky parents?

Hi Carole,
Your block looks great. Iam using three strands as it says also and thought it was quite chunky but am used to it now. I think its the texture it gives. Try with 2 and see if you like it.

What Mighty Hunters your kitties are! Of COURSE they don't need no "house"!

OK, so the huhu is creepy; it's not nearly as creepy as an adult Weta! We've had several of those over the years. Blech!

I see how the new block is more delicate, but I rather like the first one ;-)

Cheers
Nona
