collectable postcards

I've been creating some more postcards for my collectable range.

Using up some of my lace and scraps of fabric I can't bare to throw out.

SOLD -thankyou

They are fun to make, and I often think it would be nice to be given one of these,
especially when most of what I've used is vintage!

Unfortunately, after I've finished making them,
I want to keep them all for myself :(

But they will probably all end up in my Etsy store
for who ever is lucky enough to find the little treasures.

Do you get attached to the art you create?

Carole :))

Carole, you do need to make sure you keep at least one for yourself. Far too often we make beautiful things then give them away. Why should others get all the pleasure from beauty you have made.

Your journals are gorgeous, also you did very well at the fundraiser, all those things for only $8, i think i would have spent a lot more!

Hi, I'm with Deb, you need to keep at least one for yourself. For the beauty and to remind yourself of your creative journey. Yes, I too get attached to my artwork but certainly lately I seem to be making things as gifts so I have to give them away but I promise myself I'll make more but just never enough time :)

They are gorgeous Carole - if they are still available, I would be interested in either the first or third one. :) So pretty.

They are precious. I can imagine that you will keep them for a while.
I have that too.
When something just is finished and I am very happy with it, I want to keep it forever :)
But after a year or two and many items further I can give it away with a smile :))

These are lovely. I think it is much harder to let things go that have been made with vintage or old fabric that has more meaning. I like the quotes that you have used.

these are beautiful Carole. If I know it's to be given away or swapped I'll make it especially for that - otherwise I keep !

These are beautiful Carole, love that vintage lace...I think I agree with Deb...when you love one of your creations so much that you don't want to part with it, hold onto it and enjoy...

well no wonder you get attached, they are so gorgeous!! I occasionally fall in love with something and have to keep it, but usually I think of my creations as children and I want them all to go out and find good homes!!! LOL!!

I must admit that I rarely get attached to anything I create. However, having said that, I don't think I'd be able to part with these. I think my interest in creating is just that - the creating. The end result just isn't that important. I realize that about myself and the things I do make are generally done for gifts or to fulfill an order.

Yes, I have art sitting around that I can't bear to part with. Oh...I know...let's ask Patty that question! Yes, I would like to be given one of those postcards you make, too!!! But...I'll watch Etsy.....sigh...

I'm sorry I dived straight in this morning about being interested in one of your beautiful postcards that I never even answered your question!

I nearly always get attached to whatever I am making and if it turns out really good, then there is no way I can part with it. It is very tricky parting with artwork you have grown very fond of.

Oh Carole, you bet I get attached to my art. I always say I'm going to make me one and never do.

Your postcards are fabulous and soft looking. Great work.

I do love your ideas Carole. I have now inherited all my auntie's doilies and hankies and I would love to do something with them.

The last card is AMAZING! You spread on the lace thick as icing!
Bravo for fearlessly using something so rare (I haven't found any "new" lace lately :)

I am like Cat (Dolce Vita)-- I send most of my art into the world to find a home elsewhere. And I hope my own kids to the same! I don't want 23 and 24 year olds still living at home, sitting on my couch watching TV and leaving their plates and glasses on the coffee table for me to clean up!

There is always something new to create. Better and different than what you did before.
